Honeymoon — Part 1

Hi Everybody, we are back!!! Actually, we were back by Tuesday night. Because of the power outage, we weren’t able to do much besides hang out at Alice’s sister’s place, reply a few emails, and recover from jetlag. I hope everybody is doing okay. We actually were able to watch satellite TV on the cruise. CNN and BBC became our favorite channels, since everything else was in Italian:)Needless to say, we were very worried about the situation here. We were glued to the TV pretty much whenever we were on board.

Houston looked like a war zone when we drove home from the airport on Tuesday night. It was dark everywhere; lots of trees and business signs were all broken…kinda scary. Although I think for the most part we lucked out, it could have been much worse. Losing power for a few days is only a small inconvenience. Besides, we didn’t mind the extra time we got to rest from our super fun but exhausting honeymoon:P

The trip was so much fun!! If we had only gone to Venice I would’ve been totally contempt. The cruise took us to Bari in Italy, Olympia, Santorini, Mykonos, and Rhodes in Greece, Dubrovnik in Croatia, then back to Venice again. It was like having two honeymoons!!

Some of the landscapes and sceneries we saw were out of this world. I was never too good with words anyway, but those places were TOO magical and beautiful for words to describe. So I am going to let our pictures do the talking (I love to do show and tell after a trip:)) We took about 4000 pictures during the 2 weeks, but of course we won’t bore you with all of them. Here are some of the pictures from Venice. I will show the pictures from our cruise on the next blog. Enjoy!

Just a little fun fact: according to our guide book there are 3000 alleys, 400 bridges, 450 souvenir shops, and 150 churches in Venice!

Also, did you know that Venice is in a shape of a fish? We didn’t realize until we saw the logo of Hellovenezia (the company of their public water transportation system)!
The picture right below is a satellite image of Venice from NASA.

This is the view we had on the terraza at our hotel. Pretty nice huh?

Looks so good right? I didn’t believe it when the guide book said Venice is not a good place for good food…they were right. The pizza wasn’t too good. Actually, I would take Papa John’s over the pizza in Venice any day. Still though, gotta show the picture since we were having pizza in Italy!

Can you believe their drinking water fountain looks like this? It tasted good!

No, not Vegas, this is the real deal! It’s the world famous Piazza San Marco.

Self-portrait time after our yummy afternoon gelato!

Almost every corner you turn there is a nice-looking church

Another old church

The romantic gondola rides were everywhere

Can’t get enough of that gelato
! We had at least two cones a day…heheee!

Some random corner…

Panoramic view of Venice. It was breathtaking

The churches there are so incredibility beautiful. So much details in paintings and sculptures. I can’t even imagine how long it takes for them to build a church like this one!

Murano
island is famous for glass-making. I like this guy the most because it reminds me of our dog.

These cool glass rain drops were hanging off from a ceiling in a department store.

Looking out at the Grand Canal from a museum.

The Venetians are very resourceful, they hang their clothes anywhere they can think of. The different colors of the clothing makes it even more picturesque.

This is too cute!

This is what their hospital looks like! It is still up and runnin!

Incredible artists and souvenir shops everywhere!

That’s my Alice!

The Basilica di San Marco — we went back there several times ;P

Amazing details on the exterior of the Basilica di San Marco.

This is what the inside looks like!!

Looking out at the lagoon from Piazza San Maro at dusk.

Rialto right before sunset. Georgous!

My favorite spot: Looking at the Grand Canal from the Rialto Bridge
