This has been an unusual week for us. Besides getting buried 10 feet under all the emails, post-production, client meetings and shoots, we’ve also been having lunch with quite a few people. Mostly to get to know them better or catch up on things. I guess you can also call it networking.
Networking and building relationships is essential for small business owners like us. We are always dealing with clients and other wedding vendors on such personal levels, it’s important for us to stay connected with them. It’s especially true in today’s economy. People are afraid, they will only want to work with people they trust, regardless of how great their work/products/skills might be. I think it’s still true even if you are a CEO, manager, or a worker bee. You can have the best abilities in the world, but if you don’t get along with your colleagues, boss, or employees you ain’t gonna make it very far.
We met up with Audrey’s parents for lunch this past Sunday. Mr. Wang is also a photography enthusiast and was asked take wedding photos at a relatives wedding. Afterwards he realized being a wedding photographer is no walk in the park, so he wanted to treat us out to lunch for how hard we had worked at Audrey’s wedding. Not only that, they went all the way out to Spring, TX to get us some of that yummy chocolate we blogged about. That’s so sweet of them right?? Yea, it’s hard work, but we love it
We gladly accepted his invitation because we haven’t seen them in a while and wanted to catch up with them.

On Tuesday, we met up with David and Laura with D Jones Photography. It was nice to catch up with them and share stories. D Jones has been around for more than 15 years and is doing super well. It’s really inspiring to see someone who has so much passion for the art and stuck with it through good and bad times. D Jones is undoubtedly one of the top wedding photographers in Houston and we hope be like him one day!
Last night, we went out with Jenna Dee and Grant with StudioDetro. Jenna Dee has been shooting portraits for a few years and is thinking about moving into weddings. We felt honored that this super nice couple wants to get to know us better and wants to pick our brains for some ideas
It was very sweet of them to take us out for some sushi!!
Tonight, we are going to go see Jessica with Green Lily Events. She is an incredible event planner/coordinator. We got to work with her two weekends ago and she was amazing! She is having “Mattress and a Massage” this evening. I can use a good massage right about now.
